Kid's Day - K6LL and K7YA

Just like last time, Charles and Catherine Reid were brought
in as hired guns. These two are both licensed, and experienced at
two kid's day contests and several Field Days.

Also just like last time, the start was delayed as the kids pored
over a box of 96 Crayolas to find suitable colors. After
about 10 minutes, Catherine decided to pick "rainbow" so she
could get on with operating. 

The highlight of Catherine's shift was three QSO's with KB9PVN,
with Melissa, Troy, and Steve all chiming in together for a big
"73" at the end. We had a few people in the shack here too, and
we all hollered "73" right back. That was good for a belly laugh.

After a while Charles marched into the shack and proclaimed that
he had found the perfect color, "Laser Lemon," in the Crayola box.
He took over operation, flying the pirate flag of K7YA, the Yuma
Amateur Radio Club. He proceeded to click off exactly 100 qso's
in two hours. He got tired after a while, but when he saw that he
had already worked 78, he decided to go for 100. When he reached
100, he immediately reached up and turned off the radio, even though
he had a pileup going! He had had enough!

Highlights on Charlie's shift included a quick five-qso run with
the crew of Wesley, John, Grace, Rebecca, and Kendra at N6TR. Kendra,
at age 3, was the youngest age copied. Charlie also liked the way
Diana at AA3B was saying REDDD! Around qso number 80, Charlie took
a quick QRX and gulped an entire can of Pepsi. He came back refreshed,
but drove the rig into overload several times with world-class belches
into the microphone! Summary sheets follow.
