[kids] Kid's Day Log and Comments from WD8EGW

This was the first time on the air for my two oldest daughters, Kelly (16) and
Cassie (8). It took little time for each of them to get the hang of operating.
Cassie particularly enjoyed a long QSO with Bridget, AB8CD. Kelly liked
calling CQ, pileups were not much of a worry with 100W and a dipole 10 feet
off the ground. Our station only had 19 QSO's but we had plenty of fun. My
youngest daughter, Rachel (17 months) will have to wait a few years to get her
chance at Kid's Day!
I've been inactive for many years, but this event gave me the impetus to get
my station back on the air. I was able to get a 20M dipole up and the station
operating on January 1st.
Thanks to the folks at the Boring Amateur Radio Club for caring enough to
sponser this event. Please consider adding 40M to the next event; it would
certainly be lots of fun in the daytime here in the east.
