Hi All,

I've mailed a hard copy of this to BARC along with 3 SASEs for the kids
in my group. No rudeness detected here, in fact had some mini-pileups
at times, which threw the op into a tizzy, hi hi.

All contacts were made using a FISTS Northwest Club radio
at the main club QTH in Hillsboro, OR under the club call, K7FFF.
Had 3 kids on the air, my son Michael (8 years old) and two of
his neighborhood friends, Grant (9 y.o) and Chase Bacon (11 y.o.).
Michael just made a couple of contacts, but he really ragchewed
the first one, another kid in Odessa, TX. Grant made one contact,
but Chase really took to it and made a total of 17 contacts all
over the U.S. and even one in Mexico. His mom had to pry him 
away from the radio. I'm hoping he will be inspired enough to
pursue a license. 

Overall the worst problem was the inability of kids that age
(especially boys I think) to be good conversationalists. Lots of
dead air and single word responses, hi hi. The ops on the other
end whether they were kids or grownups really took it all in
stride and we could tell they had a good time, too.
