This was our first attempt at Kids' Day after my son completed a half
of a qso a couple of years ago. This was a big hit this time, with my son
and daughter taking turns at the mike for each qso. Twenty one qsos,
twelve states, two countries, and lots of fun. We ran on one frequency for
the last 15 qsos or so - we had a big pileup the whole time ! Everyone
wanted to talk to four year old Emma, who did quite well at the mike ! The
"repeat after me" mode worked quite well. It was interesting listening to
the pileup calling - some OMs (no kids), some daddies calling then putting
kids at the mike, and some kids whose audio really stood out ! Our kids
also were interested to hear about the blizzards in the midwest (thanks for
sending them this way !), and we also had the chance to congratulate
Wisconsin hams for the Rose Bowl victory !!
Highlight of the contest - my daughter yelling, on the air, probably
loud enough to be heard around the world - "I GOTTA PEEEEE !!!!". To
which someone answered, "When ya gotta go, ya gotta go !!".
We've received a couple of QSL cards - we'll send ours out soon !
