Folks,

I got on 10m from inside the apartment with the kids spur of the moment. For
the first time the kids were asking to talk on daddy's radio! I hooked up a
zip wire dipole for 10m. 20m was out of the question. I tried but too much RF
floating around.

Two of the the three kids spoke with a young local ham, KB1DSO (no code tech
ready for novice test), operating at his grandfather's place, K1RMF. My three
year old was able to answer the questions, but could understand why she would
want to ask any. My seven year old was being a bit shy, but did a nice job.

My five year old, Haley, didn't want to talk with Tommy because she knew him.
She wanted to talk to someone else. She called CQ for about five minutes and
had no takers (band was not well). She got tired of it for a while. Later on
she asked if she could try again. On the forth or fifth call we got a bite
from W4ONC. Haley was thrilled! I had to repeat for her what Joe was saying,
but she had a real QSO! Dad was thrilled too. She called CQ for a little bit
after that, but the zip wire dipole was just not the ticket. We will be in the
new house by the time the next one rolls around and have something decent in
the air.

I have been working slowly on getting my kids on for kid's day since the very
first one over two years ago.
