[Kids] Kids' Day

At our Red Cross Hurricane Preparedness Fair, held in the parking lot of a
Lowe's home improvement store, we had about 10 child visitors. Our dipole,
strung between two light poles in the parking lot, wasn't working as well
as it should. So, we used the local repeater for the kids. They were still
incredibly happy abt making ham radio contacts and took our phamphlets.
The wx was clear, over 90 degrees and in the pm, the asphalt was radiating
heat, not rf.
Still, I hope we can continue to expose kids to ham radio, for its fun and
educational components, instead of the passive and solitary activities of
gameboys, pcs, and mp3 players.
