Best check the rules...10,15,20 and 2 meter repeater freqs (with
permission) are
the bands..Will look for you... Still trying to figure out my favorite
In the past there has been activity on 40m, too... The object is to get the
kids on the air, I don't think the rules really care what band. I would
like to see 40m added as one in the list as a place to look. I was looking
forward to trying AO-51 for kids day, but the AMSAT note a few days ago, the BBS
was turned on for the Asia effort and the FM repeater was turned off as
emergency communications are more important.
I plan on being on from Delaware. I will start by checking 15m and 20m. In
the past I haven't had much luck (with a G5RV antenna) except on 40m. We
will also monitor 2m (146.73 in Wilmington). On VHF, look for #2 son, KB3LUF
(maybe this will help push #1 son... who would rather play game boy then study
test questions). On HF, look for WB3LGC. We may try 6m's too. Robert is 14
and Andrew is 12 - give them a call. Last year we tried to operate kids day
in the RTTY Round-up. The kids liked pushing buttons, it would be nice to
add psk as a kids day mode. Kids relate to computers. btw, we won the
section as a multi-op (+loggers) with low power as no one else entered from
Delaware. Robert helped log for an hour or so. It's best not to have Kids Day the
same weekend as a major contest.
