Howdy,
Thanks, Jack, for the preliminary FD report. Once I have all of the log data, I'll compile the final score results and post them on the reflector. All-in-all, this was a very successful FD effort. We started off kinda slow on Saturday morning, but picked up the pace in the afternoon and finished strong on Sunday. Many thanks to our core group, consisting of, in no particular order, K6LRN, WK6I, N6RK, KF6T, NU6T, WB6GEF, K6TKD, and WX6V. Thanks also to Rick, W6SR, for coming up on Friday to help us with the setup.
One of the highlights of the weekend, for me, was watching our two teenage visitors, Greg (15) and Paul Cecil (17), from Auburn, make their first ever contacts over the radio using the GOTA station. I understand that Paul was so excited about the experience that he is planning on earning his ham radio license for his Senior project at Placer High School. Folks - this is what Field Day is really all about - passing on our great hobby to those that would follow us.
By the way - did anyone in the Jackson area notice if the Amador Ledger Dispatch printed anything in their Friday or weekend paper about our FD effort? Please let me know and save a copy for me if they did.
Jim -WX6V-
