Every little bit helps, right?
I thought I had prepared my station for this year's contest season.
The first thing I noticed was poor propagation.
Then the power went off. I checked with P, Gas, and E, and they
said the power was out to 195 homes in our area. It was off for
4 hours or so.
I played a bit (=small effort) after it came back on, but it was
like pulling teeth to get a QSO on 20m. After dinner, 40 and 80
seemed pretty good, but then they died.
On Sunday morning I had a decent run on 20m which petered out after
about 40 minutes. I heard stations like K6XX and W6YX calling CQ a
lot and not getting answers. When they did get answers, I couldn't
hear the stations they were working :-(
Then I noticed by computer clock was fast. I set it back, so we'll
see if I can handle some "rubber clocking" when I submit my log.
I checked 15 and 10 fairly frequently and heard nothing. Then I
heard 2 guys on 20 talking about how surprisingly good 15 was! I
went to 15 and had a good run there up until the party was over.
