Not really competing in this event since my IC-765 is in the shop for a few weeks. Still - couldn't resist the temptation to get on and make a few contacts as a warmup for the coming phone contest season. Pulled out the backup IC-751a, ran the Alpha at a modest 400 watts out, and had a blast! I'll probably submit my log as a check-log. Started too late to make any dent on 15 meters, but I can actually say -for maybe the first time ever- that I had fun on 40 phone! 
One of the highlights of the early evening was cooking steaks and corn-on-the-cob on the grill just outside the shack in the midst of operating. I'd run out and turn them both over in 10 minute increments and then go back to the rig and call CQ on 40. Twenty minutes and about 40 contacts later - it was time to eat. Great fun!
