As you may know ACOM, a privately held company in business since 1988,
manufactures high quality amplifiers and tuners. They are
headquartered in Sofia, Bulgaria. Many of you have had experience
using their ACOM 1010 amplifier for contesting, DXpeditions, etc., and
have spoken highly of this amp. Among others, it was used by the
Scarborough team with very good results. The specs can be found here:

http://www.hfpower.com/

-1.8 to 30 MHz operation
-Single Svetlana 4CX800A ceramic-metal tetrode
-Very easy to tune -- bulletproof
-Fast QSK operation
-Two SO-239 antenna inputs
-No external tuner need at VSWR of 3:1 or lower
-80 watts in --> 800 Watts out on CW or 500 Watts continuous
-Small footprint (inches): (16 x 12 x 6)
-Weight: 35 lbs.
-120 or 240 volt operation

For this weekend's SS-Phone contest, Dean (N6DE) has loaned me his
ACOM 1010 and after using it over the past two days, I must say it's a
very impressive piece of gear. Since pricing information is not on
their website, I called ACOM's US headquarters in MA and spoke with
Will Angenent, K6ND, who heads up the office. Will is a former
president of the Southern California Contest Club.

US List Price including shipping: $2,340

For a purchase of at least ten units, NCCC's group price would be
discounted about 11% to $2,090 (includes shipping). He quoted 6-8
weeks delivery time. He's also willing to discount a bit further, if
we get more than 10 buyers.

Caveat: All units must be shipped to one address.

Perhaps the ACOM 1010 is a bit pricey for less than a KW amplifier,
but it's hard to beat the quality, portability, reliability and ease
of use. 5/5 rating on eHam.net: http://www.eham.net/reviews/detail/4563

If anyone's interested, please let me know offline.

John K6MM
