The deadlines have passed, the logs are in, and the flogging has
stopped. Now it's up to the Log Checkers. But what a great effort!

The Big Picture -- NCCC Projection

# CW Logs Submitted To ARRL = 147
# CW Logs On NCCC Website = 143 = 11,386,384 points
4 logs were submitted to ARRL but not reported to NCCC reflector (not
so bad)
Assume each unreported log is worth 4,000 points x 4 logs = additional
16,000 points
Total Projected CW Score = 11,386,384 + 16,000 = 11.4 Million

# Phone Logs Submitted To ARRL = 181
# Phone Logs On NCCC Website = 156 = 11,399,856 points
25 logs were submitted to ARRL but not reported to NCCC reflector
(that's right - 25 - not so cool. Believe me, I tried to get the #s !!)
Assume each unreported log is worth 4,000 points x 25 logs =
additional 100,000 points
Total Projected Phone Score = 11,399,856 + 100,000 = 11.5 Million

NCCC Total Projected Claimed Score (CW+Phone) = 11.4 + 11.5 = 22.9
Million points from 328 logs.
(As a reference, for the 2008 Sweepstakes, NCCC was credited with 20.4
Million points from a total of 278 logs).

+++ Looking at past history, I think we just submitted the largest #
of combined logs and the highest claimed score ever in this contest
from our club !! +++

What about our friendly nemesis, PVRC?

# CW Logs Submitted To ARRL this year = 137 (from ARRL website)
Using an average score per log of 73,000 (6% increase over last year):
Projected PVRC CW score: 137 x 73,000 = 10.0 Million

# Phone Logs Submitted To ARRL this year = 168 (from ARRL website)
Using an average score per log of 75,000 (6% increase over last year):
Projected PVRC Phone score: 168 x 75,000 = 12.6 Million

PVRC Total Projected Claimed Score (CW+Phone) = 10.0 M + 12.6 = 22.6
Million points from 305 logs.

Unknowns:
1. # of PVRC mailed-in logs (shouldn't be many or high scores)
2. Assumption of 4,000 points per each submitted but unreported NCCC
log (safe bet -- hope it's higher)
3. Average score per log for PVRC this year.
4. Final log checking results.

You can draw your own conclusions here, but Win or Lose -- we gave
this Gavel Race our best shot. We recruited more than 20 new NCCC
members during this contest. We had some great Shared Station
scores. We had a lot of committed butts in the chair. And most of
all, we had fun.

My thanks to everyone (NCCC + MLDXCC) for your contribution to one of
the most difficult contests of the year.

You should be proud to be a KBer tonight -- I sure am !

73,
John, K6MM
