[Jim Venneman]

A lot of us worked the previous E4 operation in December of 2007 between 7:30-8:00 AM local time long path (1530-1600z). After about 15 minutes, the signal was gone. As I recall - that was one of the few openings to the west coast. Even still, the signals were S4-5 at best. Beaming short path, the signal was below the noise level.

Local sunrise here is 15:22Z (from Yahoo) and 20 M don't open much before 16:00Z if at all.

I sent an e-mail message to the pilot station last night asking them to stand by
for west coast stations during the 1530-1730z period on 20 cw. To my surprise,
that actually happened this morning. Unfortunately, only a very few west coast
stations could actually hear them and even fewer worked them. Maybe they will
continue doing this for the rest of this week. They are supposed to be on until
Sunday. Good Luck!
