[Mldxcc] CQP Club Awards--making good images of past awards

I've made a couple of attempts to create images of the past CQP plaques 
for possible addition to the web pages.  I tried scanning but the tack 
heads lift the plaque face up enough that I have not had good results.  
My digital camera did not give me the results I wanted, and I may try my 
film camera set up.

Anyone have a tried and true method?  I'm all ears for that.
