I want to thank everyone that gave me leads to finding my hum/buzz 
problem just before SS SSB.  I learned much.

In the end, it appears that my problem was the K3 picking up fan noise.  
No RX noise.  All on air audio reports were good with no sign of TX 
noise, noise (a loud hum) was only on TX and only in the monitor.  One 
solution was to reduce the monitor volume, and that is what I used 
during SS SSB.  Later I activated the K3's TX GATE function, designed to 
eliminate noise in the monitor.  That seems to be the solution long 
term, as I can now up the monitor volume and feel loud <grin> and reduce 
the desire to shout.
