A good friend, Don Greenbaum (N1DG) is having some Rotor challenges. He posted this message to the YCCC reflector recently.
I told him I'd pass it on to this reflector, just in case you might be able to help.
Don's email address is: don at aurumtel.com

Subject: Fwd: [YCCC] Yaesu G2800 DXA help
Yesterday I went to turn my rotor from SW to East. I use a green heron controller.
When the direction indicator got to 270 deg (from 240) the indicator stopped and the OT indicator lit (out of range error). I went back to 240 and all seemed fine until I repeated the East target and got the same result.
Thinking it was a controller issue I reconnected the Yaesu controller. Same issue, indicator only registers from around 180 to 270.
I can turn the rotor manually without a problem, but of course the point and shoot functions won't work on either controller. And the tower is not visible from the house (time for a remote camera?)
Questions:
My rotor control cable is buried around 200 feet...could a cable malfunction account for loss of SOME pot voltage and account for the out of range error?
Has anyone seen a pot fail in just SOME directions?
Anyone have any troubleshooting suggestions from the same experience?
Thanks.
Don
