[Mldxcc] K3 Auto Tuner

I have the Autotuner and an LDG AT600Pro autottuner following my 600w amp.
Both do a remarkable job, but I think the K3 matches better and has a wider
range. Of course its only good for barefoot. If you ever grab your rig for
a little expedition, then the internal tuner is well worth the investment.
Just the rig and wire are all you need to get on the air (oh, and a 12v
power source . . . And a mike or key).

As for the internal DVK, I like it for its crystal clear recording through
your radio mike and the ease of making the recordig. However, it it is
limited to 4 plus 4 messages. That means you have to press and hold the
record button to switch message banks. Forgetting to switch or (more
likely) to switch back results in sending the wrong message (something I am
prone to do on the radio as well as real life). Not holding the record
button long enough when changing banks can result in an an erased message.

Subject: [Mldxcc] K3 Auto Tuner

I purchased a K3 from K2US. The K3 does not have a built in auto tuner or
voice keyer.
Any K3 owners have an opinion on buying the internal auto tuner VS an
external tuner like the LDG or MFJ? I think I'll live with the MFJ Voice
Keyer.

Any operation in CQWW will be S & P between church and visitors. I hope to
work a few new 80 meter countries! 73 and Happy Thanksgiving, Ray
