Urging all who are not NCCC members to 'get on board' & join THE premier
contesting club.
Many of us in MLDXCC are also members of NCCC and have contributed to
wins in major contests.
For info go to NCCC website.

ARRL RTTY RU in 2013 is an NCCC focus contest and one where we would
like to again make a serious club effort!!

Last year (2012) NCCC set a new Unlimited Category record of 3,715,609
with logs from 73 participants. Our efforts in RTTY RU have not gone
un-noticed by our competitors and rumor has it that at one major East
Coast club has decided to try and bushwhack us in the event our guard is
down.

*This year we have set a goal of 100 submitted logs ? big logs, small
logs ? all logs! *

As a reminder, the contest is held the first full weekend of January ?
this places the 2013 event barely three weeks out!

The contest is scheduled for the weekend of January 5th and 6th 2013.

             Start:   1800 UTC Saturday 1/5/2013

End: 2400 UTC Sunday 1/6/2013

*Awards & Internal competition*

NCCC will once again sponsor a series of awards and competitions open to
members who have paid their dues for the current contest year.

*/Individual participation Awards ? Operators & Station hosts/*

NCCC RU awards will be awarded to station operators and hosts who reach
the participation levels defined by the program (plaques for first
issue, certificate for subsequent). As a reminder, program levels are
identical to NCCC KB awards with the exception that all eligible QSOs
are made in a single event.

*/Intra-club competition/*

As a reminder, each participant?s score in the 2013 RTTY RU contributes
to his or her NCCC intra-club team total for the contest.

Similar to last year, NCCC will sponsor the following awards (plaques):

  * Top high power Single Operator (SO1R) scorer within NCCC Territory
  * Top low lower Single Operator (SO1R) scorer within NCCC Territory
  * Top high power Single Operator (SOXR) scorer within NCCC Territory
  * Top low lower Single Operator (SOXR) scorer within NCCC Territory
  * Top high power Multi-Operator scorer within NCC Territory
  * Top low power Multi-Operator scorer within NCCC Territory
  * Top scorer in NCCC Territory for the HOST station owner

We have added the SO1R and SOXR (X>1) categories recognizing that RTTY
is an excellent learning environment for multiple radio contesting but
equally, is not something that is possible or of interest to everyone.
By separating these participants for the Single Operator awards, we hope
to encourage more participation from stations in BOTH categories.

Stations should identify their specific category (SO1R or SOXR) when
they post their scores to the NCCC reflector. Stations not including a
category will be assumed to be SOXR.

For the avoidance of doubt, R = Radio ? hence SO1R means one physical
radio independent of the number of VFOs or sub-receivers that may be
included.

*How can we help?*

NCCC has a tremendous brain trust of experience and knowledge that is
available to help. If you would like to participate in the club effort
for ARRL RTTY RU but need help in any area, please let us know! Help and
assistance is available ? for example?

  * setting up a station for RTTY the first time
  * RTTY operating procedures
  * solving station problems (RFI, BCI, equipment problems?
  * solving antenna problems or getting better (more!) antennas in the air
  * computer logging software challenges
  * ?

*Practice Opportunities*

We will also organize practice sessions for NCCC members before the
contest in January.

*How to participate?*

To help coordinate club effort and provide assistance where we can help,
there is a sign up form on the

NCCC web site at:

http://www.nccc.cc/2013-rttyru.html

Please take a moment and review the scores from ARRL RTTY RU from
2009-2011 and then submit your sign up entry using the form. There is an
area on the form for indicating areas where assistance could be helpful
to you. Stu K6TU will consolidate the sign up forms.

Stu K6TU and Dean N6DE will coordinate NCCC participation in this
contest ? we hope you will support NCCC in this club effort and look
forward to helping in anyway we can!
