Pleased to submit a few scraggly points for the MLDXCC
medium club competition.
After 19 years 4 months of perfect service, my Yaesu
rotator failed, so had to rotate the normally rotatable
beam by hand. Not sure this was a serious as one
would think, with the 2nd 3-el yagi fixed at 70 deg,
could just run up top and point the other beam to
the hot area for mults; so started with JA Fri at
start, moved it to VK/ZL as band shifted then to
Eu for Sat morning. But major mistake on Sunday
when in the dark I set the beam on south Pacific
instead of Eu, then wondered why Eu signals were
stronger on East pointing fixed 3-el beam.

QTH: CA
Operating Time (hrs): 20.75
Club: Mother Lode Dx/Contest Club
Summary:
Band QSOs Pts Mults
-------------------
CW: 849 3396 117
SSB: 373 746 77
---------------------------
Total: 1222 4142 194
Total Score = 803,548

Ant: 2 3-el home brew Yagis one at 25 ft
AGL and the other hanging off the back
balcony of the house about 20 ft. AGL.
XYL does not like this configuration outside
our bedroom window, but an owl landed on the
beam Sunday morning, and I've now declared it
to be an essential wildlife refuge.
Comments:
In the last 30 mins K9RS called from DE for 50th
state on CW. Two stations qsy'd from ssb to cw
to provide ND and WY; on ssb I was missing WV
so asked an OH station to QSY there. He was
amused at the question but refused to drive 2
hours in heavy snow, causing me to miss WV on
SSB (and a few others)
Pleased to have 5T0 and C91 answer CQ's on SSB.
Less than ideal conditions to Eu but worked a few both
mornings. Friday night Sporadic E opening was amazing.
Fewer Q's but more mults compared to 2011... score
almost identical to two years ago.
