Folks in Norcal,
K6MI, a frequent overall winner in FD, in the 1A Battery Low Power category, had done FD for decades at the same location, Chews Ridge in Monterey County CA at 5100 feet.
36 18.66 N
121 34.10 W
In the 1A low power category, we usually average 900-1200 QSOs, mostly CW, depending on band conditions. We are almost a cookie cutter turnkey team that specializes in
CW, Low power, and have a Satellite Station. We will have also live internet at the mountain through a 8 mile wireless link through Razzolink, a local internet supplier. We setup computer LAN networked memory keyers and loggers. Rigs, and backup rigs, and a KT36XA beam, with high dipoles at the top of Chews ridge next to the Fire Lookout. I had a major car breakdown (blown head gasket) which is in repair, and may or may not be ready for the journey to Monterey from Auburn. We are expanding our FD category to 2A battery, and have a GOTA station. So, if anyone wants to join me and the team on Chews (probably Friday, return Sunday eve, possibly Monday morning) and get a lot of time in the chair with a winning FD team, please get in contact. The ride may be in my car, or your car, depending on completion of the repaired head, in my car.
