Per Alan, AD6E:
BTW,? I only got one feedback from my query to NCCC BOD about WPX. Therefore, it is NOT an NCCC focus this year. I'll talk to Byron about this so he understands the situation for next year.
Wish I had remembered to get on top of this earlier. You can let MLDXCC people know and have them re-submit their logs if you like. There were some decent scores.?
Sorry I wasn't active in this one. ?I'll try to make up for it in CW WPX.
Please submit your scores for both contests on behalf of MLDXCC. ?It's perfectly OK to resubmit your log to CQ.

Hello MLDXCC'ers,
This weekend is the Ontario QSO Party. ?If you can sort through the paragraphs I wrote in the Nugget, which somehow got mixed up a bit when published, I mentioned that we will participate in this one as a club.
K6LRN planted the seed. ?Dick noted that the VE3's really participate heavily in the California QSO Party and, as a way of thanking them, we should do the same. ?I worked 99 VE3/VA3's in CQP.
The Ontario QSO Party is a much slower contest, with nowhere near the activity as CQP. ?Nevertheless, I'm hoping that many of you will take the time to make a few Q's. ?The highest scoring "6" last year made TWO Q's! ?You can all do better than that. ?Make the Q's and submit your score.
I got together with the presidents of the CCCP club and the REDXA club and we're going to do a three-club competition. ?Each club gets as many of it's members on the air as possible and the top ten scores of each club go towards the competition. ?100 Q's in this contest is probably going to be a real good score, so nearly everyone in the club should be able to do that. ?With Sunday being Easter, I'm sure there will be many who won't be that active on that day.
In the 3-club club competition, the winning club will get a case of wine, which will be paid for by the two losing clubs. ?WE WANT TO WIN!! ?Assuming we do, the wine will go towards MLDXCC awards to members.
K6TU, president of CCCP, has set up a real-time scoring server for this event. ?It works with any logging software that can broadcast your score to a scoring server. ?As far as I know, only Writelog and K1MM are capable of doing this, and you need the most recent versions. ?Seeing how you rank, in real time, should be a lot of fun. ?I upgraded to the latest version of Writelog last night, at a cost of $30. ?N1MM is free. ?
Once you've determined if your software is capable of broadcasting your real-time score, you can read Stu's simple tutorial on how to log into his server. ?I don't believe we can do attachments on the reflector, but I'll try attaching it to this email. ?If you don't see it, send me an email and I'll send you the tutorial. ?It's real easy.
The Ontario QSO Party starts at 11:00 AM on Saturday and runs until 10 PM on Saturday. ?It starts up again at 5 AM on Sunday and runs until 11 AM on Sunday.
We need as many of you guys and gals to find whatever time you may have available to get on the air this weekend and work the VE3/VA3's. ?Spotting is allowed, so if you hear one of our stations calling CQ VE3, spot them and please spot all VE3/VA3's.

Recently Yahoo made a decision to change the way it deals with spam, via
the rules that yahoo broadcasts to the internet that tell other servers how
to authenticate a yahoo email.
The ripple effect of this decision is that, if you have a yahoo email
account, your email may not get delivered, because all of the other servers
receiving your email from the reflector will flag it as spam.
I just cleaned a whole bunch of yahoo.com emails - from my favorite ham
radio reflectors - out of my spam folder. A LOT of emails.
I suggest that everyone keep an extra eye on their spam folders, until
further notice.

hi - I have been asked to write the next RTTY RU results article for QST.
Because I took this on after the contest, I'm missing notes that I might
have been able to take during the contest. So, I really need your input.
Any recollections especially about:
- weather challenges at your QTH
- propagation
- "a funny thing happened..."
- special challenges
- anything else!
...will be helpful. Also any high resolution photos of you and your QTH.
I do have any soapbox words and photos you may have sent in to arrl.org,
but I won't mind if you send them to me directly just in case. (And
needless to say I am also scouring this reflector and 3830, but again, I
won't mind if you send them to me directly.)
Please send directly to this email address, not to the reflector. And
please feel free to share this message to other lists as appropriate.
Thanks very much! jeff wk6i

is allowed, so if you hear one of our stations calling CQ VE3, spot them
and please spot all VE3/VA3's.

Well, it looks like CCCP is gearing up to win this one. They've got some
heavy hitters lined up, including K6TU, W6OAT, the K6MMM team, K2RD, N6DQ
(operating with the call K3O), and K6TD. Those are the calls currently
registered with the real-time server.
We have W1RH and W6VMT currently signed up with the real-time scoring
server, and REDXA only has N6IE so far.
Stu can taste the wine! We want the wine!!!! I wouldn't rule out REDXA in
this one. They're rallying the troops.
YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE ON THE REAL-TIME SCORING SERVER TO BE IN THE THREE
CLUB CHALLENGE. Just get on the air!
I believe we have myself, WC6H, W1SRD, W6VMT, KE6GLA, and AA6K
participating so far. Please consider getting on this weekend.
The contest runs from 11 AM Saturday until 10 PM Saturday and from 5 AM
Sunday until 11 AM Sunday, LOCAL TIME.
It's a relatively slow contest, so you certainly don't need to be on the
entire time. There will be mobile rovers, going from county to county,
however, so be sure to listen for them. You can work them on each band and
in each county they are in. As long as you log the different county, it
won't show up as a dupe.
Please spot the VE3's and VA3's and, if you hear one of our own calling CQ
Ontario, please spot us. Don't spot the bad guys!
If you want to use the Real-Time scoring server that Stu has set up, and
need assistance, call or email me.
Hope to see some of you on the air this weekend.

I agree with Bill .. watching paint dry is more exciting. And Bill did
twice as good as I did.
Sunday morning now, I worked a couple of new ones on 10 CW, but when the
amp warmed up and kicked in something died and the K3 no longer transmits.
I'll have to work on that tomorrow.
While there seem to be a lot of VE3s in CQP, it's only the same two dozen
or so VE3s that are in OQP. That's a whole lot different than the wall of
W6s that exist in CQP. Still, it felt good to give them some activity.
I didn't put in a lot of BIC time .. about 3 hours.
46 QSOs, 38 mults = 5,054 points.

Well, it is like watching paint dry, but the K6TU real-time score server keeps one's butt in the chair (I did take some time to do some work in the vineyard and take the family out to dinner). ?Thanks, Stu!! ?It was fun watching the other scores as the paint slowly dried. ?
For some reason, my SO2R box was not being controlled by Writelog, so bagged SO2R for this one. ?Nice ten meter opening Sunday morning. ?Really nice to work a 10 point station in the last minute of the contest.

Glad to a few points to MLDXCC's effort.
Last minute surge on 10 was welcome. Many VE's thanked us for the
California surge in the normally quiescent OQP.
Most challenging qso (LP) was ve3osz on 160m cw. Bagged 9 10 pointers on
CW and 6 on SSB. Of course most of the points come from these "special"
stations. That's a policy that should be dropped from OQP as in CQP.

Very short operating time on Saturday, bands did not seem
favorable.?Had to leave Sunday morning for Easter service before that
elusive 10 meter opening.
7 Q x 6 mults = 90 points

For those in REDXA/MLDXCC who participated in the TriClub challenge and weren?t able to join the real scoring process, PLEASE EMAIL me your score with #QSOs and #Mults and I will add your score manually to the database.
You can check out the results at the live scoring page (also serves as the results!) here:
http://k6tu.net/CCCP/HTML/triClubResults.php
If the mailer doesn?t strip it - here?s a clickable link:

This was a LOT of fun ? lots of competition both between clubs and also between stations!
BTW, K3O was staffed by K6YL/N6DQ. ?Congrats to N7MH driving W6YX for a spectacular score ? certain to take California and maybe best Outside Ontario score as well.
73!

K6LRN should be credited for planting the seed for getting many of the NorCal hams on the air for the Ontario QSO Party. ?This was all done as a way of thanking our VE3/VA3 friends for their participation in CQP. ?
The comment from VE3OSZ says it all:
My score would have been much smaller had it not been for the efforts of the
three California clubs. I had 55 CA QSOs on all bands from 160 to 10 except,
surprisingly, for 80. Five CAs were worked on 160 including three (W6DR, W6YX
and K6MMM) who were worked on 5 bands.?
Thanks to the three CA clubs for their contribution to the OQP.

In response to my own 3830 post, which mentioned our 160m QSO, Bob wrote a
personal email to me:
"*Glad to work you on 160 (and also 10, 15 and 20). I also was using low
power (100 watts from my old Drake TR7)."*
Bob is not in my 2011 or 2013 CQP log (didn't check 2012) Maybe we'll see
him this year.

CCO thanks all those that turned out for the OQP, particularly the W6's. Good
luck to the W6 Clubs in their competition. A club competition for ALL clubs
outside Ontario might be a good idea for the future.?
