Hello MLDXCC'ers,

This weekend is the Ontario QSO Party.  If you can sort through the paragraphs I wrote in the Nugget, which somehow got mixed up a bit when published, I mentioned that we will participate in this one as a club.

K6LRN planted the seed.  Dick noted that the VE3's really participate heavily in the California QSO Party and, as a way of thanking them, we should do the same.  I worked 99 VE3/VA3's in CQP.

The Ontario QSO Party is a much slower contest, with nowhere near the activity as CQP.  Nevertheless, I'm hoping that many of you will take the time to make a few Q's.  The highest scoring "6" last year made TWO Q's!  You can all do better than that.  Make the Q's and submit your score.

I got together with the presidents of the CCCP club and the REDXA club and we're going to do a three-club competition.  Each club gets as many of it's members on the air as possible and the top ten scores of each club go towards the competition.  100 Q's in this contest is probably going to be a real good score, so nearly everyone in the club should be able to do that.  With Sunday being Easter, I'm sure there will be many who won't be that active on that day.

In the 3-club club competition, the winning club will get a case of wine, which will be paid for by the two losing clubs.  WE WANT TO WIN!!  Assuming we do, the wine will go towards MLDXCC awards to members.

K6TU, president of CCCP, has set up a real-time scoring server for this event.  It works with any logging software that can broadcast your score to a scoring server.  As far as I know, only Writelog and K1MM are capable of doing this, and you need the most recent versions.  Seeing how you rank, in real time, should be a lot of fun.  I upgraded to the latest version of Writelog last night, at a cost of $30.  N1MM is free.

Once you've determined if your software is capable of broadcasting your real-time score, you can read Stu's simple tutorial on how to log into his server.  I don't believe we can do attachments on the reflector, but I'll try attaching it to this email.  If you don't see it, send me an email and I'll send you the tutorial.  It's real easy.

The Ontario QSO Party starts at 11:00 AM on Saturday and runs until 10 PM on Saturday.  It starts up again at 5 AM on Sunday and runs until 11 AM on Sunday.

We need as many of you guys and gals to find whatever time you may have available to get on the air this weekend and work the VE3/VA3's.  Spotting is allowed, so if you hear one of our stations calling CQ VE3, spot them and please spot all VE3/VA3's.
