  - I started the contest 30 minutes late.  When I first came on, I went to 10 meters to see how the band was.  The first station I heard was a serious Midwest contester calling CQ over and over and over with no takers.  He was on 28505.  I was thinking that the band was dead.....then I went down below 28500, where I always go, and the band was buzzing with activity, but with space for more.  Now, why would anyone want to go above 28500?

  
  - And, as long as I am on the topic of 10 meters....how about those no-code technicians?  Great for contesting, in my opinion.  They just kept coming and coming.  All potential new contesters.  


  
  - While tuning 40, looking for a clear spot, I came across some old farts, who had a nice clean frequency, carrying on about the contesters.  In my quick tune across their frequency, one commented that the contesters would scare away the new hams and, for sure, the new hams would take it out on the ARRL by not joining.  Based on the activity I heard this weekend, I don't these guys had a clue.  


  
  - I got asked to move three times.  Once for a net, who asked me nicely if I would go down 5 KHz (I did), once by W1SRD and once by WC6H.  Note that I will gladly move for those two guys and any KB'ers who ask.  I was off to the side of Steve and Rich and didn't hear them when I asked if the frequency was clear.  


  
  - 10 and 15 were fantastic on Saturday.  I had some awesome runs, especially on 10.  Sunday was the pits.  It seamed that everything was ESP.  They were calling me, but completing the Q was a struggle.  Around 4 PM local, on Sunday, I went to 20 and the band was packed.  I probably could have burned a hole in the band for myself, but I just didn't want to fight the QRM and hurt the other guys.  So, I went to 40 early, and that turned out to be a good idea.  Decent run for an hour or two.  Then, very late in the day, when the East Coast guys were all on 40, I went to 20 and had a long productive run with the band nearly all to myself.  It helps to be on top of a mountain with 1.5 KW pointed east!  

  
  - Nice to hear all of the KB'ers.  I tried to work every NorCal station I could hear.  If I heard a 6 in with a bunch of others calling, I'd go for the 6 first, and most were way down in the mud.  



  
  - I believe this was the first time I had a clean sweep when every mult came to me.  The last one was VI.  He called me Sunday afternoon.  I was his third contact.
