Metro Electronics (Sacramento) Closing




The end of an era... Metro Electronics in downtown Sacramento will be closing



this summer... June or July 31st (I can't remember which month they told me).





Metro Electronics is essentially the last independent old style/school brick and



mortar electronic parts store open in the Sacramento Area. Metro is one of the original



Zack Electronics stores, remaining open and becoming an independent stand alone (as



Metro Electronics) when the Zack Store chain was sold (mid 90's), seemingly mismanaged



in short order and eventually closed down.





The decision to close is probably related to the recent retirement of long time



employee Mike Penlesky (enjoy your well deserved retirement Mike) and the desire of



owner Ron (and his wife) to retire. The two remaining employees (Bob and Mike) don't



appear to be moving forward with any plans to carry Metro onward after Ron retires.
