AA1ON, my long time contesting partner, flew in the for East Coast to do CQP here for the 6th year in a row. We did OK except for a problem with the Winkeyer which would start changing speed and then die. Early on, I would have to unplug the USB port to fix the problem. Then, as it got worse, I had to reboot the computer. Finally, I remembered that I have a spare Winkeyer. Plugged it in and all was well. We did lose some CW Q's because of that and it may have cost us what I had hoped would be our 4th M/S plaque. Martin did most of the Phone Q's and I did mostly CW except for a little bit of 80 phone. We both had some terrific 40 meter runs but 10/15/20 was dreadful.
Interesting to note that I used my Radiosport headset that I got in Visalia. This is the first time I have used it for long hours in the chair. Very nice. One problem, however.....Apparently, we had an electrical when I was running 80 and Martin was sleeping. This headset shuts off all of the noise....and I mean everything. My wife mentioned later that there was lightning and thunder and she was surprised we didn't shut down. I didn't hear a thing except 20 over static crashes on 80 and I didn't see the lightning when in the shack.
Thanks for all of the Q's.
