I always enjoy this contest, kind of a low key, low band SSCW from the
west coast. Not nearly as noisy a band as the CQWW was. The only problem
that pops up each year is the usual Christmas parties on Friday and
Saturday night and the obligatory attendance but I did get in about 3
hours each night with Saturday night being a lot slower.
It is always nice to hear the East Coast working Europe and with their
directional antennas, not bothering with anything west of the Rockies.
Too bad this contest does not draw nearly as many Asia/Oceania stations
as the CQ contests seem to do. Of course, on Monday night, I listened
for a while as K0IDX in N.D. worked a G3, OE4 and F who were all Q5
here. Hopefully a harbinger of the rest of the low band season.
73 & KB,
Rick, W6RKC
