Two great chances to get your station in RTTY-shape before the RTTY Roundup
in January - and once chance to add to your 2016-2017 competition totals!

*This weekend Oct 7th-9th is the Makrothen contest*:

For some of you, this is the distance based DX contest you've always
wanted, at least in RTTY form. Highlights include:

- exchange is your 4 character grid square (e.g. CM98)
- your points are kilometers between you and the other station
- 24 hours split into three 8 hours shifts, with 8 hours between shifts
- contest starts Friday at 5pm local, ends Sunday at 9am, and you still
have your Saturday night!
- assistance allowed
- plenty of activity!

An interesting twist for those of you inclined to operate SO2R or SO3R is
that you are required to enter as a Single/Multi station, which means you
can transmit on each band without regard to the other bands, just like any
other multi. Try it, it's fun!

*The following weekend Oct 14th-16th is the JARTS (Japan) RTTY contest*.
This contest counts towards your score in the NCCC individual and team
competition. Highlights:

- 48 hours, work all 48 if you can
- exchange is 599 and your age (this is the scary part)
- mults count per band and are DXCC entity and JA/W/VE/VK call areas
- assistance allowed
- plenty of activity!

Rules here: http://jarts.jp/rules2016.html

Note that there is a link here to the JA bandplans. These are good to know!

Hope to see your print the next two weekends - have fun! - jeff wk6i
