Outstanding Al, well done.

The previous op made several comments about needing to be a big to overcome their noise but conditions from our side sure made it happen.  I was maxed out at 600 watts (Ah kennah do no more Cap'n).

80 phone, at last.  I listened when they were on 160, no joy there.  That would have been surreal and a band sweep.

GREAT effort by the team, more patient than I would have been.  Safe journeys home!

Glad you go in, Rick.
After talking to you when they dropped out for a while, I went to eat.  Came back to the shack and found them at 3803 kHz, a surprise.  I flipped the amp back on (and left to make lunch while the filaments warmed up).  When I gob back 3 minutes later, he was still on 3803 so I made one blind call up and got a contact!  Dumb luck.  He then announced he was going back to 3793 but still listening above 3803.  So, a pileup starts on 3793 before he even announces himself!  I left happy and do not how things transpired from then on.
All of this was with the woodpecker going at 20 over, something not heard a half hour earlier.  Their 75 signal was very FB this morning and they made a lot of guys happy, myself included!

Staying only 5 up, you have to get over his S)+20db noise.

Only the 80 and 40 meter stations are still up, for another 3 hours...

Last chance.

Yes, I finally got through on 75 phone!  Slot #16 for them
