Any visible twisting in the tower?
Sounds like tower might be binding.
Can you visually determine where it might be binding?
If you can reach the binding location, apply lubricant, it you cannot, no ideas at this time.

I need advice on what to do about my crank up tower. I went  to lower it down this morning and it won't move. It's been up for eight months or more since the last time I lowered it. The tower is a TX-55.
It does seem to go up - I turned the crank a few turns and heard the squeaking of metal from above - which is normal for this one.
Anyone experience this issue before?
Thanks
