Don't count the Sweepstakes eggs until they've hatched!

I recall, from an earlier email,  that some of the logs from Mad River were not valid due to late submissions or some other factor.

Another issue:  In a close SS competition it's good to check for conformity to the geographic limits.   Some stations may have submitted club logs not knowing about the 150 mile radius for Medium Clubs.

An example:  In the 2002 SS Unlimited Category PVRC was 2nd and NCCC came in 3rd, behind SMC.  Mike, N7MH was suspicious. He discovered that a PVRC log from WP3Z had been counted. Turns out that several large PVRC logs were "illegal." Later, it was revealed that the PVRC Board knew of the situation but did not voluntarily admit the error.  They were not given 3rd place, but rather had to withdraw from the competition.   It was perhaps surprising they were not banned for several years because in fact they cheated.

Well guys.  The tally as of this time is Mad River 30 CW and 23 Phone Logs.  That should put them in the unlimited category!!!!!

This is what this club is all about.  Everybody contributes their share and it all adds up.  I just wish I was still the Prez.  Looks like if we win Shirl will get a nice engraved gavel to bring us all to attention.  That's IF we win.  Everyone cross their fingers.  We have several months of nail biting!

Outstanding, and a big thanks to those that racked up major points. Thanks Bob for keeping on top of this. I don't know where you're digging out all these scores but I sure appreciate it.

Below is the latest, based on known scores and logs received.  We have one CW log that I just noticed has not been submitted for MLDXCC.  I'm trying to get that fixed.

Regarding the spelling of LODE as LOAD.  Not an issue.  Per K1ND at the ARRL Contest Branch:

The spelling error is a non-problem.  As long as the club name is discernible we will get it credited properly.

The log deadline is 7 PM tonight.  We have 47 logs in and that appears to be all of them.  If we can get the one CW log resubmitted, it will be 48.

4,067,076 - MLDXCC (includes the CW log mentioned above but does not include the W6BO scores for CW and Phone.  I'm expecting at least 100K from the W6BO logs)

4,006,142 - Mad River Contest Club (at this point, they have 52 logs submitted which flips them into the Unlimited Category.  Someone was asleep at the switch at Mad River)

3,389,700 - Contest Club Ontario (sitting at 49 logs.  7 unknown scores.  Huge coordinated effort from CCO this year.  Don't count these guys out.)

3,054,982 - SCCC (only 38 logs submitted.  At least three very large logs that went to SCCC last year did not this year.  Still 11 unknown scores.  Can't count these guys out.

2,570,640 - DFW Contest Club (32 logs submitted.  Four unknown scores that could amount to about 300K.  I think we can count these guys out of the running)

This is looking very good for us, unless there's a rogue club out there that made a serious effort this year.  I'm still looking for that club.
