Well, there's advantages and disadvantages.  Although I actually moved about 300 miles farther than you did (W1 to W6 = 2627 miles), I don't have to start over again since it is all within the same DXCC entity.  While I was glad to have contacts like VK0H on 80M, made from the East Coast, it really hasn't made a lot of difference.  I've found that what I could work on the East Coast I can also work on the West Coast.  I might have to try a bit harder, but that works both ways.  I worked Palmyra on 80CW from Boston and I'm sure it wasn't on the first call.

Where it does make a difference is in contesting.  Europe is just so great to run from New England.  I can't tell you how many EU's I've worked in ARRL DX who have come back to me with an exchange of 599-001 (as in one watt) or even 0.1...really.

The fun thing about moving is you get to start all over again.
Got VP8STI last night on 20 CW for ATNO #30 (I'm guessing, lost count already)

The interesting thing is that I now have two antennas: One is a 2 element vertical array aimed at NA so this was off the side. Also, since yesterday, I now have the 3 element SteppIR in the air at about 30ft aimed north. Rotor not working yet. So VP8 is off the side for both. The vertical has about 1 S unit higher noise floor, but signal strength is the same.

As do I.  ATNO #328.  At this point in the game, they come few and far between.
