Vern,
On the road north from Flagstaff (93?) to the South rim turn, JUST
beyond the turn (stay heading north, not as far as the tourist
trap) on the EAST (right) side of the road, is a cabin on a
trailer (really!).
Stop there!
Roasted meats (beef, LAMB, chicken), potatoes, chili peppers, corn
on the cob and best of all FRY BREAD! The full meal is $7. She
closes around 4:30 if not busy.
You'll want to say "Ah hyeh heh" for the meal (Dine, Navajo for
thank you).
BEST fry bread in the region (second best was the Navajo omelet at
Painted Desert and THAT was yummy). The fry bread at the tourist
trap (mostly imported junk) was 'adequate'.
Dave: The bands may work, they may not. It kind of depends on
the band(s) you want to use and if you want DX. It seems that
when the high bands get clobbered, the low bands perk up (less
noise mostly).
With a geomag storm happening about every three days anyway (A was
at 70 a week or so ago!), just go have a good time when you can.
Rick
Dave,
I won't have internet access at the North Rim Grand Canyon on that Saturday. Text me and maybe we can connect on 40.
Have fun!!

Thanks Rick!
Jordan WC6J and I had planned to do NPOTA and SOTA activations this weekend in the Bay Area but have now canceled. We have rescheduled the trip for the following Saturday. Watch for our spots on the clusters as well as on SOTAWatch.org. We plan to work 20 and 40 meters SSB.

If you had any radio plans for the weekend... time to rethink them.
