Dick,  You've hit on my dilemma. My reading of the rule is that any QTH outside of US / Canada while the primary license (and station) are within the club circle ... is a DXpedition. That's not exactly how I would define an expedition. I would add "tent and generator" to the definition, but then I'm kind of biased that way. :-)   However, this is a special definition ONLY for one specific contest.

Our original plan was to spend about 50% of our time in KH6 and the other 50% in W6. However, it hasn't turned out that way as a matter of practice. still, it's not "permanent" in the 100% sense. That's why I'm asking this question.

You have a good point about a possible challenge. I'll ask HQ for clarification.

Looking at WikiPedia, there is a definition of what a DXpedition is, but does not
mention time...whether it's overnight, a week, a month or what.
I would suspect your 'DXpedition' time frame might be a little long but ARRL's rules do
not specify how long, either.
IMO, the way the Affiliated Club Competition is seems to be set up presently,
your score could be challenged by another club.
Would you consider your location to be temporary, as a vacation cabin or longer
term situation?
Do we want to ask the 'powers that be'??

Thanks Dick!

For ARRL DX this brings up a question. I'll operate in ARRL DX from KH6. Would my score count for MLDXCC?  Rule 6 of the Club Competition says:

6. For the ARRL International DX Contest only, DXpedition (operating outside the United States and Canada) scores for either single operator or multioperator stations may be counted for Medium or Unlimited Clubs even though the operation is outside the club's area, provided all other requirements are met.

My license is listed as being in San Jose. I still have a station there and operated there as recently as NAQP CW a couple of weeks ago. I use a club call: KH6TU when I'm in Hawaii. Does this count as a "DXpedition"?  Seems kind of odd, but by the rule as stated, it appears that I can since KH6 is listed as a "DX" entity separate from USA.
