Using this set for the last two years, Field days and VHF contest portable. In my shack I plug them to my USB sound card to operate SSB and  to IC-7100 when portable. Cable is little thin, but still holding. Solid performer and good value.

If you’re looking for a decent low-cost backup boomset for the shack, Field Day, trips, the car or truck, etc., I can recommend the Koss SB-45.

Discussed recently on the Elecraft reflector, I thought it was worth a look for my K3.  After some on-air checks with Ross, K6GFJ, I then worked a few guys around NA on 20M SSB.  Good audio reports.  Last two Qs were today with the 2 teenage Youth DX operators in Costa Rica.

Decent construction.  Made in America.  Comfortable ear pads.  Standard 3.5mm plugs for headphone and mic connections.  Noise reduction mic.  Nice cushioned headband — probably a (+) for those balding heads out there.  Freq. response is 18-20,000 Hz….same as the Yamaha CM-500 headset.

Cost is $25.00 online.

They also have a version with a USB plug on the end.    http://tinyurl.com/ycdxp6dq
