Thanks Dennis!
I can imagine how it went with folks ganging up.
Speaking of ARRL VE program, my ticket expired .. or will in Jan. I renewed already, then sent a note to the VE staff at HQ because my VE badge expires with the license. This morning I got a reply that they will happily send me a sticker to cover the badge expiration date ... in 3-4 weeks. 3-4 WEEKS ??? A brand new badge shouldn't take more than a day or two at most. Or I could just print my own "sticker" with plane paper and glue it on.
Did anyone ask about the seemingly dead OO program? Or about ARES training (or lack thereof)?

Outside of the hot-button topic, other issues discussed were:AB1785 California distracted driving law - Bottom line, if the radio you are using is fixed to the vehicle, and you are using a corded mike to the radio, you should be fine. Using an HT while driving would be considered a violation. This is still of course subject to interpretation by various agencies and districts.ARPA - Amateur Radio Parity Act is still in committee and is being held up by one senator. It can move out of committee for a vote any time within the next 12 months (current session).Changes coming to QST magazine - Physical size changing to match standard magazine size. Will result in less paper cost and less cost to reconfigure presses to run this off-size publication. Concern was raised by a blind ham about placing too much emphasis on online material at the expense of those unable to benefit from it. ARRL would like to receive more articles from its members.
Pacificon - Discussion around location of club/non-profit tables, parking, general issues. MDARC is not tied to the San Ramon Marriott and is open to suggestions on other locations. Open to combining with a maker faire to increase exposure to a younger audience.
ARRL VE Program - A suggestion was made that the ARRL look at ways to speed up the licensing process. Some organizations such as WY5I can get a new license granted in two days, the ARRL should try to do the same.Dennis NJ6G

The annual ARRL Pacific Division Cabinet meeting is 9:00 AM Saturday, December 2nd in Livermore. Affiliated clubs are permitted to send up to 2 representatives. I'm not yet sure if I can go. Is anyone attending from NCCC beyond those in Division leadership?
If anyone from MLDXCC would like to attend please let me know.
