In the interest of precision:

Bob Vallio, W6RGG and our Pacific Division Director voted in favor of the
ARRL Policy on Board Governance and Conduct of Members of the Board of Directors and Vice Director which included Section 8 mandating Board member secrecy and support for all Board actions notwithstanding personal views or opposition.  Provisions of Section 8 formed the basis for the censure of Dick Norton, N6AA and the Southwestern Division Director, in a special telephone meeting of the Board this last fall.  W6RGG abstained from the vote in that meeting.

Is this nothing more than a hiccup in the 100+ year history of the ARRL? This can't be the first time they've been faced with inner turmoil and pissed-off members. It's not time for them to go, and two organizations would have their own agendas. One defending spectrum, one pushing for HOA regs or increased spectrum, etc. etc. etc. Which one gets to bend the senator's ear this week? Whose desired legislation deserves more attention? We need the ARRL to represent us, not CQ. They can't meet a publishing deadline let alone lead the way for another national organization to represent the hams in this country.

As W1SRD mentioned, we need a message to HQ. Not limiting it to just the revocation of the censure, but a strong message from an association of ARRL-affiliated clubs about what we are seeing, and what we would like to see happen at HQ. First thing is to pull NY2RF's head out of the sand so he sees what's going on. Unless he does already see and he's too arrogant to do what's right.

In other words, two national organizations of hams might be better than one at the present time.
That thought has crossed my mind as well, as I’m sure it has others. Brings to mind the days of the RAC.

The fact of the matter is, creating an effective national organization would take a serious time commitment on the part of a few dedicated people not afraid of the consequences, and some deep pockets to finance it. Could be done. Probably not time yet to actually do it…. but probably it is time to be lining up the players. Newington needs to believe to believe that a credible alternative organization is a distinct possibility. The best way to get them to believe it is for it to be 100% true.
