After a long and quiet period over the New Year the sun is waking up again…

NOAA just issued (see below) an onset warning for a G1 storm that is caused by a coronal hole that allows the solar wind to escape. As this wind hits earth the magnetic field starts to vibrate and it will create workable propagation for the 40, 30 and 20m band.

The is a uptake of solar plasma which will also possible cause some sporadic E on 6m and up.

The stream is forecasted to hit on the 20 of January and will last for at least a few days according to the NOAA experts.

Conditions at the MDSR test station are still quiet but 10m has been up and down in the last 4h.
