I have made many EXPENSIVE mistakes with Heliax connectors. If you need to install only one, you could spend hours inventing a PL259 adapter, and it may not be stable. The Andrews connectors are bullet proof and we have at least 40 of them outside.

Best of luck finding old style 1/2" spiral LDF connectors. Haven't seen any of those around in a LONG time. 

I've been told that you can adapt a PL-259 to fit, but i've never tried. I would think a drill press would be required at minimum.

Looking for up to 20 Heliax ½” connectors UHF Male.  Old style coax with spiraling corrugations.  Have lots of coax  - but no connectors…  Sources???
