+AD4- As you may be aware, there was a meeting last Friday at K8AZ's to
+AD4- determine the future of the NCC.  Since the people who have been
+AD4- our driving force of the past are no longer able to give the club the
+AD4- tremendous efforts they volunteered in the past, it looked as though
+AD4- we may need to look at an alternate solution.  This included +ACI-merging+ACI-
+AD4- with Mad River.
+AD4-
+AD4- I was opposed to disbanding NCC, and voiced my opinion to do whatever
+AD4- I could to keep us together.  It was clear that most of the members felt
the
+AD4- same way, and was evident by the commitment of VE3EJ driving down
+AD4- from Toronto, K8NZ forgoing an Indians game, and W8KIC even showing up
+AD4- after all that he has been through lately.
+AD4-
+AD4- I'm honored to say that I was elected President (in the traditional
+AD4- railroaded
+AD4- fashion) and will try to revitalize the club to a new level.  Changes are
+AD4- going
+AD4- to be made to the existing bylaws and will need to be adhered to (to meet
+AD4- club
+AD4- requirements for ARRL and CQ submission).   We will continue to sponsor
+AD4- plaques for SS, and ARRL DX.  But this means raising the funds to pay for
+AD4- them, so soon we will be, for the first time, asking for dues to remain or
+AD4- become
+AD4- a member.
+AD4-
+AD4- So what kind of things can I look forward to as NCC enters a new era?

+AD4- Our own NCC Web page+ACE-  I believe we are the only +ACI-major+ACI- contest club
+AD4- without one.  In it you will find meeting dates and places, with a
+AD4- spreadsheet
+AD4- that will show who has attended how many meetings and at which location+ACE-
+AD4- Yes, multiple meeting locations, because of our requirements for us all to
+AD4- attend at least two per year, it should be as easy as possible to attend.
+AD4- This
+AD4- means that we will be looking to hold at least one meeting per year in
+AD4- Pittsburgh, and possibly Toronto if we gain a few more VE's.  Then all
that
+AD4- would be required would be the annual pilgrimage to Dayton to satisfy the
+AD4- two meeting requirement.  Of coarse, Austintown will remain our primary
+AD4- meeting location.
+AD4-
+AD4- One of the things about NCC that I've really missed the last two years has
+AD4- been not having the golf outing.  So for August 2001, we will have the
+AD4- +ACI-Summerfest+ACI- at the K8DX QTH with the golf tournament just a few miles
+AD4- away+ACE-

+AD4- Other things that will be implemented shortly on the web page will include
+AD4- score posting with a  spreadsheet showing scores for each contest (or
where
+AD4- you operated from if you joined a multi), an online newsletter, and
password
+AD4- protected roster with e-mail addresses, business and home phones.  We will
+AD4- also have a +ACI-Profiles+ACI- section to learn more about who we are at NCC, as
+AD4- well
+AD4- as links to other contesting sites.  Thanks to George, K3GP, in advance
