Greetings and Happy New Year to the NCC Warriors.
This message is a reminder that the annual K8AZ open house will be this
Saturday, January 8, 2000, starting at 3:00 p.m. at my QTH in
Chesterland, OH. The K8MR annual winter party will follow at Jim's home
in Orange, beginning at 7:30 p.m. If you need directions, drop me a
note on the DX PacketCluster or at k8az@contesting.com.
The last two years, the weather was poor and attendance was down. This
year, with fall-like weather, we're hoping for a big turnout. Please
try to make it if you can. (Since food & libations will be provided, an
RSVP would be appreciated -- but is not required.)
As you know, due to the hectic schedules of many members, we haven't had
an NCC meeting in quite a while. We plan to count this one as a formal
meeting and will circulate an attendance sheet. But fear not, no formal
agenda exists, and no meeting will be called to order. Just the chance
to see our friends and competitors and to engage in some good old
fashioned ham radio BS.
Also, we hope to kick off some informal discussions on the future and
direction of our club. We expect that MRRC members will be there in
good number and plan to kick around the types of cooperative efforts and
joint ventures that might be mutually beneficial as both clubs
experience the graying of their respective memberships.
Finally, Tim will be collecting again for the NCC plaque sponsorship
dues. We need to generate $300 again this year and hope to hit that
goal on Saturday.
I'm looking forward to seeing the Midwest's finest contesters on
Saturday night. Hope you'll be there.
73,
Tom, K8AZ
