Hello to all,

CW Sprint--This Saturday nite is the ever popular NA CW Sprint. Who wants to join in the fun? Anyone expressing an interest by 8pm EST Friday (2/8/02)will be placed on the NCC team. This will be a good time to brush up on your code skills prior to the ARRL DX test.

ARRL Club Rules--The League has changed several rules that will impact club competition.
     1. A club can now define it's "area" as either a 175 mile radius from a center point OR an individual ARRL section. NCC will retain it's 175 mile radius.
     2. Membership elgiblilty criteria has been changed from attending two in-person club meetings to what ever an individual club defines as a "member in good standing." Our By-laws have always defined a member in good standing as any club member who has submitted TWO scores for NCC within a year for any of the 8 major contests(CQWW,ARRL DX, CQ WW WPX, etc).
     3. Other changes are that a club member may operate the station of a non-member and have that score count for the club aggregate(assuming that station is within club territory). Also instead of 66% of a multi team being club members it now takes only 50% of a team to be members for that multi-op score to count for the club.

These changes are issues that have been discussed by the CAC for some time and represent positive changes for the contesting communtity. Their impact on NCC, however, does not appear to be great.

ARRL DX--It's almost Showtime folks!! You have one more week to get prepared for what hopefully will be another outstanding performance by NCC in the Medium Club class. Other clubs WILL be gunning for us this year and so we should make every effort to turn in another outstanding score. What are your plans??

73/KB,
Ron, K8NZ
