I want to thank all of the NCC members for your support during our
preparation for the WRTC 2002 contest. We shipped almost 400 pounds of
equipment over to Helsinki 3 weeks ago and it arrived safe at Nokia
headquarters last week.
I sent the best radios and computers we have. I know we will be ready to
do battle.
N3RA suggested another 100 pounds worth of gear that might help out, so
I am bringing that on the plane tomorrow with us.
I have spent the last 30 years of my Amateur Radio life preparing for a
contest like this, and the dream is about to come true for a second
time. We had a good run in San Francisco in WRTC 1996. We intend to do
much better this time.
We will be on the Internet from Finland and I will try and post some
pictures of our setup.
Please try to get on for the contest and work as many OJ stations as you
can.
We expect 20 meters CW and SSB to be good. We hope that we can work
W8/W3 on 15 and 40 as well.
Direct and sincere thanks to W9ZRX who worked on several computer
related projects with us. N3RA who has been our team advisor and point
of contact for any problem I could dream up.
K8AZ for the filters and switching gear. K8NZ who spent 2 hours at
Dayton with us telling us about his experience in WRTC at Bled 2000.
And very special thanks to Jim, K8MR who was the best patient teacher a
budding contester could ever have when I knocked on his door 29 years
ago.
We hope to work all of you in 6 days. Please try and get on the air next
weekend.
73,
