John,

I can't comment on your problem, but recently a request/reply for a
reputable TS940 service shop was posted on a contest reflector. A fellow
contester recommended the fellow at www.avvid.com as a good place for
repairs and alignments. I filed that away for future reference.

I also have a TS940 which is in need of alignment. I plan to send mine to
this fellow in the spring - unless you report a bad experience with him
before then, hi.

73,
Tim W3YQ/KL7WV

Durning the contest my 940 went OTL. Was operating on 10 meters (remember
how good 10 was Sat AM!) everything looking good as far as the comp & alc
driving the output. For reasons I can't explain after a few seconds of
speech the meter climbs steadly without regard to voice peaks and stays
fully pegged until unkeyed. Can't say what the output audio sound like but
the watt meter shows a steady output. Readjusting the ALC has no effect.
Change to any other band and it isn't a problem, come back in a few minutes
and its fine for alittle while. This only happens on 10 meters. I saw this
happen about 3 months ago but it stopped after one time and I thought
nothing more of it until last Sat morning.

Anyone have a idea, or know of a good place to get a tune-up?

K8LN
John
