To the NCC:
Because the guys who normally come to K8AZ didn't want to let the club score
suffer because we weren't doing a multi-op, we decided to try to work
collectively to
come up with a score that was at least as impressive. The guys really came
through:
My original message to the crew follows:
To the K8AZ Crew:
Congratulations to the Crew for a superb collective effort, especially
given difficult conditions.
N8TR posted the best score:
160:46/41; 80:105/66; 40:143/82; 20:690/108; 15:292/91; 10:36/18 =
1312/406 = 1.598mm (Fantastic job, Pete!)
WT8C put in a major effort:
160:14/13; 80:75/48; 40:120/63; 20:263/88; 15:161/66; 10:27/10 =
660/288 = 570k (Amazing job, especially considering Reno's rotator was stuck
pointed East!!!)
K8BL also turned in a big score:
160:22/18; 80:82/47; 40:88/58; 20:224/80; 15:182/75; 10:2/2 = 600/280 =
504k (BL's becoming Low Band Bob!)
W8CAR banged his head with SSB to turn in this impressive score:
160:5/5; 80:31/26; 40:33/29; 20:219/86; 15:120/74; 10:31/11 = 439/231 =
304k
K8MR, who hates low spots, non-run SSB contests, managed 12 hours for
the following:
160:11/10; 80:38/23; 40:40/33; 20:220/70; 15:118/52; 10:36/10 = 473/198
= 281k
WB8K contributed this low power S&P score:
160:12/10; 80:55/33; 40:21/17; 20:103/51; 15:29/18; 10:20/7 = 240/136 =
98k
At K8AZ, the mult-only effort yielded the following:
160:160:32/32; 80:62/62; 40:81/81; 20:98/98; 15:92/92; 10:19/19 =
382/382 = 438k
Note that the combined effort totaled 3.829mm, not counting other
scores from others heard, such as K8NZ/4. The current high claimed multi-single
score is 2.268mm, so our plan to hit it hard for NCC seems to have paid
off. This, combined with the apparent m/m win by K3LR (wow!!!) may be enough
to help NCC put it over the top in the medium club category.
Thought that was worth mention -- if we had known so many others were going
to put out big efforts too it would have been all that much easier.
Congratulations to the
whole NCC for a great job in piling up a great score at the bottom of the
sunspot cycle!
73 de Tom, K8AZ
