To the NCC Warriors:
This e-mail supplements an e-mail sent to MRRC.....but is different. If you already received and read the MRRC notice, please read item 1 below. Otherwise, all items -- especially item #5 -- are important.
1. The traditional start time for the MRRC meeting at K8MR's is 7 pm, so folks usually drift out of here by around that time. As soon as things settle down, we'll have the annual NCC meeting. Agenda items include the following:
* Sponsorship of plaques, costs, etc.
* Contest participation issues
* Dues issues
* New members (any nominations?)
* Location of circle
* Waiver of mandatory dues for Charter Members
* Waiver of mandatory dues (case by case) at option of officers
* Anything else someone e-mails me about before 2 pm tomorrow.
* NCC donation to Shannon Harps fund (so you know, my personal position on this is that, by the time the meeting starts, the membership should have already donated or promised to donate sufficient funds (see #5 below) that NCC should not need to step up.....and I hope I am correct!)
2. I'll have the traditional K8AZ "share it don't toss it" table, and others (including K3LR and KB8LTM) have agreed to contribute to the pool. If you have stuff you're thinking of dumping and you think someone else might be able to use it, please bring it with you.
3. My street (Surrey Lane) is a private street -- and is not plowed (or salted) by the county. The street is narrow to begin with, and this is made worse by the snow. Some of the existing snow pack should melt, but the best place to park will be in the driveway and in the "side" gravel parking area to the left of the drive. Please try to minimize the number of cars on the street -- it's narrow enough as it is.
4. Because the street is not salted, it tends to wind up with a dense ice-pack under the snow. This will be made more treacherous by tomorrow's anticipated above-freezing temps. (Nothing more slippery than a layer of water on top of ice!) Please be careful driving and walking!
5. Thanks to the efforts of WT8C, a Mentor bank has agreed to host an account for the Shannon Harps Memorial Fund. Our goal will be to raise substantial funds (1) to help the family defray any burial/transportation/estate expenses and, if possible (2) to fund a donation to an environmental cause [to be selected by the family, but most likely the Sierra Club] so that a donation to honor Shannon's memory can be made. In this regard, please consider bringing a little extra cash -- or a check/checkbook -- so that MRRC and NCC (both of which were founded, in part, by K8NZ) can provide seed money to make this fund legitimate before it's opened up to the rest of the contesting world.
73 and CU tomorrow.
Tom
