To the NCC Warriors:

As you know, membership in NCC is by invitation only. K3LR has just
nominated a new member, Cal, K0DXC. Cal recently moved from Waconia MN to
Jackson, OH.

Cal is not only a member of the K3LR multi-multi team and an avid, eager
contester......he just turned 14 years of age.

For those of you who do not know him, Tim forwarded to me a 12/31 e-mail
that Cal sent to a number of his radio friends. This says it all about what
kind of a contester he is and will become:

I have started hitting the CW programs hard lately. I have been focusing
mainly on Morse Runner and sending CW, but my Rufz score has shot up as
well. On Morse Runner I have been using the approved HST version, playing on
HST mode. I have scored 3550, that is the highest score I have gotten so
far. My best rate has been 345 an hour. I generally keep the speed around 35
wpm. I can do 40 wpm, but when I do I run the risk of missing a call! By the
time HST rolls around next year I would like to have the speed up to 50wpm
at least. Anyways, I have attatched an MP3 of a two minute audio clip of me
playing Morse Runner. It is not my best clip, I have one for 340 an hour
with the score of 3550, but I am in Illinois right now so I can not get it
off my home computer.
As for all the other categories, I guess you could say they're coming along.
I can send CW with few errors at about 30 - 40 wpm. My only practice for
this has been getting on the air and trying to emphasize on QRQ. My code
group copying is about the same as it was before I'd even heard of HST, I
think the EU will dominate that challenge hands down, however, I will start
using Fabian, DJ1YFK's LWCO program. My Rufz score has gone up, I have a
record that I just sent in for 60 wpm (300cpm) and about...... Oh, I don't
remember the score. It is on my home computer as well and it's not on the
toplist yet. I can copy calls at around 65-70 wpm.

At Tim's request, Cal recently posted his NAQP SSB score to the NCC
reflector. (Were you wondering why an SMC guy was posting to our system?)
Again, a better example of OUR kind of contester could not be found.

I heartily support the nomination. Please vote "yea" or "nay" by reply
e-mail. (If you prefer to have your vote kept confidential, please feel
free to e-mail me (tlee at taftlaw.com) or Reno (rmtonsi at oh.rr.com) directly.)

73,
Tom
