Missed Ohio and Michigan!

Never heard an Ohio station CQing until I took a listen on 40 at the end
(W8BI), but QRP with a 20 meter dipole is not a good thing on 40 :>)

Heard K8AO in the U.P CQing but no answer (he wasn't real loud). But don't
think I heard any CQing MI from the L.P. I suspect most beams up in 8-land
were pointed west.

Did hear a few MRRC/NCC guys in S&P mode (KW8N, K8BL come to mind).

Still an interesting time. CU in CQWW from K8AZ.

Comments:

QRP in a SSB contest using a dipole at 12 feet would normally qualify as
lunacy,
but I was in FL on vacation, so I took my new KX3 and everything I would
need
while staying within normal airline luggage considerations. I wanted to
get an
reality check on operating under such circumstances. Fortunately if one
has to
operate this way, FL is a good place to do it from.

It was indeed an exercise in humility, as lots of people CQ'd in my face,
a few
got a couple of letters and then blew me off (not that I would not do the
same
thing if I was in their position), and a a goodly number of people actually
copied me. Special thanks to VY1EI who spent a good two minutes pulling me
out,
bit by bit. Any SS where one gets NT is a good one.

All in all a good time. Next such trip hopefully will be for CW to a place
where when the skimmers find me, people will be get excited enough to
turn their beams my way.
