Thought that using a bare bones station (100w and HF6v) would keep pre  
contest problems to a minimum..well..one hour before the start I was in the 
back  yard checking the "Mighty Nnn Zed Vertical" for what I thought might be a 
bad  connection. Turned out that my 40m problem was in the LPT  
cable..started the test thinking I was good to go. Three hours flew by(a strong  word 
for my rate) and then I went to 80m..My first Q was with KU8E who is  
normally easy on this band from SW FL. The contact was a struggle on his  end. 
"Suddenly" there was very little output with my computer keying as RF  was 
getting into the line..ended up sending by hand on every other 80m  QSO..thank 
goodness for my FQP experience.
 
Conditions were not great here..20m was good prior to the start (loud  sigs 
from K0EJ in TN) and then went to crap soon after. Ended up going to 40m  
long before I would have liked. Sad to say we might be back to the days of 
80m  totals being better than those on 20m. 
 
Was cool to have NP4Z and KP4RUM call in and find a very weak CO2 on  
80..somehow I missed FL once again. Called N4OX several times with no  love.
