I noted that W2FU wasted no time finding me when I showed up from a new QTH. (after the first effort at N8TR).

Subject: [NCC] Some SS Feedback

Hal,

Using skimmers can find a LOT of Qs. From home, I ran N1MM at the start of the
SS. There were over 500 spots in the first hour. Some showed guys changing
bands.

I was at W2FU on Sunday afternoon, essentially working spots. It was interesting
how well the skimmers find everyone.
I found 2 guys on first CQ, before the spot popped up. It was fun to give guys a
huge number and receive their number 1 or 2 in return. So, it is true that new
guys can just CQ and get spotted on Sunday as new. It's important to get there
quick, some create quite a pile up. One "Q" guy called CQ and had 3 call him. He
seemed to get flustered. I waited there 45 seconds and he CQ'ed again. I called
slowly and got like NR 1 or 2 from him.

I noted that K0ZR was spotted as K5ZR by some skimmers. In an offline note, he
hold me that he used the faster command for the Zero <<0>>. There must be
difference between skimmers. I checked several: K3LR never spotted incorrectly;
others spotted incorrectly about 1/10 of the time. Checking the RBN reports, I'd
see K0ZR and K5ZR on the same frequency.
