Good to see some buzz here about SS CW!

I usually come over here a few days after SS CW but this year I came a month
earlier. So for me the contest will begin at 6 AM on Sunday and end at noon
Monday. I won't have any problem staying awake the first night. But when
the bands peter out at 3 AM in Ohio (when I usually take my first break), it
will only be 4 PM for me here. I probably won't feel like sleeping. If I
can keep up any kind of decent rate at that hour, I will probably just keep
going for 16 hours straight through the Sunday morning 40 meters activity
until around 11 AM EDT (10 PM here) and then take a nap. If I take a 6 hour
break then, I will get up at 4 AM my time and operate the remaining 8 hours
straight through to the end. Not the best strategy but probably easiest on
the body. Otherwise I will be looking at getting up in the middle of the
night and operating on and off throughout the next 12 hours, which sounds
pretty tough. No SO2R this year is also going to make things pretty tough.

Either way, it's going to be a pretty weird SS for me this year.

RE conditions, it's fun and helpful for mults to have the high bands hot,
but it's a bigger advantage for the West Coast than for us in W8. We do a
lot better on 40 and 80 when conditions on 10 and 15 are poor. At least I
usually do.

Hope to work all of you. Let's get another gavel for MRRC!

I haven't seen much chatter about SS this weekend. W8CAR will be on full
time with SO2R @100 watts and a few new antennas (nothing spectacular but I
will FEEL louder!) Hope to work many NCC and MRRC guys. Hope condx are great
for 10 and let's hope for no T-storms within 600 miles.
Oh, would it be too much to ask for short skip on 20 and 15????

Any one else with plans? Let's hear it from the masses.
